force-fed cookies by a lovable brute
april 1, 2008 – 12:49 amwell its been one heck of a messy week here at the groovytype lab. it seems that using dreamweaver on two remote machines, as well as running adobe illustrator, crossftp, several webpages, and a couple of bookmarking tools, all while simutaneously connected to three servers, seems to have thrown my wp themes and even the entire site, into quite a tizzy.
i was drowning in cookies while crossftp began to “synchronize” some half-built code. this of course turned into a bit of a struggle between myself, dreamweaver, and crossftp as we each went from server to server applying “updates” and “synchronizing” the site back to the dark ages.
i finally caught on when i tried to apply my “save” of the same chunk of php for the fifth time and caught dreamweaver red-handed replacing my last save with its “update”. by the time i battled my way through the maze of cookies and caches (spelling on caches?) and determined what they were doing it was too late.
so then we spent a day or two patching it all up. and then when wp drops version 2.5 on us.
so went another day making things work again, reloading this and that, and on and on. sooner or later the fun part of this is gonna start, right?
anyway, now that the skeleton of this precious site has been put together, we’re off and running. first thing we want to do is find the very best of the best in:
- accordion panels/widgets
- drag and drop panels
and
i noticed today (while being forced over to google’s domain from my own rss feed link) that they have a very nice set of movable panels on their user-choice pages. so i’ll be adding their rendition of movable panels to the others i’ve scoped out likes of scriptaculous, jquery, diggs, yahoos, and a few others.
the “comparison” of the aforementioned drag-and-drop panels will primarily be a pass/fail grade on whether or not yours truly here, the grand old fattygrub, is able to integrate each of their interpretations into this site. the winner will get a personal recommendation from me. so polish your panels, yahoo.
look for them all on the sidebar links (look right ubers) along with other cool scripts and software. i might even have a tip if i can get a clue.
oh, btw, here’s a screen-snip of my rss feed link on this site’s (groovytype.com) front page. note the anchorage:
and here’s where that link ends up (at least at this time) and from every machine here, regardless of how many times i bash the cookies out of them:
there you have it! where does google.com go when they need to scrape together a few hits and bolster her much-needed traffic?
that’s right ubers! groovytype!
